Century Vanilla

(3.00)
Blended from air cured number 1 grade AAA burley, golden cavendish and selected Virginias to create a mild to medium smoke. The addition of vanilla essence does exactly what it says. The room note is very pleasant and not too disturbing to non smokers.

The light grass and citrus from the gold Virginia leads the light dark fruit and earth from the red Virginia. In a secondary role is the nutty, woody, molasses sweet burley. The unsweetened black cavendish provides some brown sugar in a small support role. The vanilla topping sublimates the tobaccos a bit, though it slightly weakens near the finish. The strength and taste levels are a step closer to mild than they are to medium. Hardly has any nicotine. Won’t bite or get harsh. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace with very smooth, fairly consistent flavor. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a pleasant after taste. An all day smoke that also makes a good mixer.

Century - Vanilla.

The mix only includes a small proportion of black Cavendish, the majority's medium brown. The pouch has a clear smell of vanilla and I've had many aromatics that have arrived wetter.

The vanilla's added at a volume for easy recognition but it doesn't fulminate the tobacco flavours. The tobaccos give more of the VaBur side than black Cavendish, the Cav' gives only a very slight sweetness. I get no tongue bite whatsoever and it burns cool.

Nicotine: mild. Room-note: pleasant.

Century Vanilla? A bit boring after a while, but better than two stars:

Recommended.

No longer available in Uk. Production moved to Mac Baren and now too expensive with Brexit to export to UK. I now work with Buyfortheguy in Uk and looking for Century black cherry copy, its popular here.

Have been a pipe smoker for about 30 years now and am a regular reader of tobacco reviews. I like to try different tobacco's as well as having my favourites. Am currently smoking this tobacco and find it good quality stuff, burns cool, starts of sweet with the vanilla taste, nutty woody nip, vanilla taste tails off. By the ending of the bowl it delivers a nice dark chocolate and leathery taste,no gunk. Hard to judge the strength ,maybe a good mild. Some nicotine towards the end but not much.
