The high quality rum is slightly spicy, and while very noticeable, it doesn't drown out the grassy, earthy, citrus and fruit sweetness of the Virginias. Needs a little dry time, but leave some moisture so you won't lose the rum. Won't bite and has a slight rough edge, but no harshness. Needs some relights, but the flavor remains consistent to end as it burns cool and slow. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl. Has a fair amount of nicotine, and its inherent strength classifies it as a nice after dinner smoke. It's certainly not an all day experience.

Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. - Sliced Brown Rum.

Unlit note is straightforward rum and Virginia. The moistness is just right: neither too damp nor too dry. If you draw through the unlit bowl you get a nice hit of rum. It lights with ease and you get a good flavour of both the rum and Virginia, like in the pre light aroma. It also gives a "warming" room-note. The negative is I tend to get a little bite.

Lots of nicotine!

Would be nice for Christmas time!!

Recommended.

23rd March 2014 An exceptional blend this...though it's not the same as their Brown Twist Rum. This one is darker in flavour by quite a margin. I saw it on Smoke King's site, tried 50 grammes and was hooked! Now I buy 500 grammes at a go and it's my mainstay tobacco. It simply has everything I want in a pipe tobacco; strength, flavour by the bucket load, utterly biteless, long lasting and well priced if you can call any tobacco that in the UK. I can smoke it while playing Warcraft, I can enjoy it while reading; it goes well with coffee, tea, beer or a good malt. That being said I'm partial to a strong pipe tobacco. If you can get hold of it I really recommend you give it a try..oh and lastly a word of praise for those excellent ladies at Smoke King! You couldn't wish for a more helpful and pleasant reception when you call them. Thanks! 14th May 2016 Still enjoying this immense tobacco. Like the Atlantic Ocean, it's majestic, practically depthless in flavour, strong in it's delivery and unsurpassed in it's power. Of all the hundreds of tobaccos I've smoked in 50 years of the pipe, this is the one I could not do without. The most outstanding pipe tobacco I've ever smoked.
