Milan Tobacconists Centenary

(3.00)
Blended in 2012 to complete our 100th Anniversary Pipe Tobacco Blend Trilogy, which includes Celebration (aromatic) and Milestone (non-aromatic), Centenary is a wonderful traditional English blend reminiscent of pipe tobacco blending recipes used when our store first opened. This blend has a rich taste of hickory with subtleties of nut and wood, and a nice proportion of spice on the finish. Fifteen different tobaccos were used to create this complex blend, including a healthy does of latakia, but we think you'll agree the result is well worth it.

Gently cased using with something sweet, reminding me of Almond extract for baking, with a similar touch as say J. F. Germain, judiciously uses. The casing is more apparent nosing the bag than combustion nor does it detract whatsoever to the overall experience in fact it comes across as golden-toasted marshmallows especially in the first half afterwards it fades away. The casing does slow down the combustion making for something longer, a huge bowl does take hours.

Everything else in this blend is where it should be and very well balanced their website states fifteen different tobaccos with the major players being Latakia, Burley, Virginia, Perique, Cavendish, and Oriental likely some Kentucky and perhaps Maryland too. I find nothing really dominates nor steals the show which perfectly fine like a nice stew.

Overall decent although I would not call this a 'crossover blend' it does take a step maybe two in that direction without sending us Balkan/English/Oriental fans for our toothbrushes and baking soda.

Not really my thing though, I won't buy more.

A great English blend. Perfect for after dinner or when you want a full bodied English. Similar to Uhle's Bishop's Move only spicier. There's more Perique in this one.

This one just hits it out of the Park as you have a delicious woodsy, natural complex blend that is sure to please any Englih aficionado.
