The cavendish style Virginia is lightly grassy with some tart and tangy citrus. The burley is mildly earthy, woody and nutty sweet as a strong second lead. The black cavendish offers a very mild sugariness. The honey topping is also mild, yet sublimates the tobaccos a little. Has little nicotine to speak of. The strength is mild, and the taste level is just short of the center of mild to medium. Burns smooth, cool and clean at a moderate pace with a fairly consistent flavor. The honey does weaken just a little in the last third of the proceedings. Leaves just a little moisture in the bowl, and requires few relights. Has a gentle, very pleasant after taste, and room note. An easy going all day smoke that doesn’t have much deepness, but suffices as a work and play blend.

If you like the flavor of honey, and I do, this may just be the best one I've tried to date. A very nice sweet flavor in every draw from beginning to end. A mild sweetness without trying too hard. You still get a nice tobacco transition that isn't totally overpowered like you get with some aros. Sutliff hit it the mark with this one. It remains true from the time you light it until the end. If you are looking for a good honey based aro - I'd highly recommend trying it out. I give it four stars based on its genre - honey.

Sutliff Tobacco Co. - Honey #206.

It's a coarse ribbon, with a smell that's easy to recognise as being honey. My pouch was a touch too wet, but still smokeable straight away.

I find it a little stronger with added flavouring than the other reviews to date. Sweet, that's the word to describe this smoke; with that in mind, it would make a good dessert smoke. The flavour's prominently honey alone until a third of the way in, this is where the tobaccos begin to come through; Cavendish and Burley, but hardly any Virginia. The burn from #206 is good and the smoke's quite thick, but I do get a bit of tongue bite which lessens the fun.

The room-note's good, and the nicotine's very mild.

If it weren't for the bite I'd highly recommend #206, but because of that I'll just recommend it:

Three stars.

Honestly, this is one I wrote off before I ever gave it a fair chance...not a heavy aro smoker, and many Sutliff aros just don't do it for me. But I waited to review, and coming back to it 2 oz. in, must say that I'm impressed. Quite impressed, enough so that this may make it into permanent rotation as an occasional sweet tooth craving.

Bag note is heavy honey aroma supported by loads of brown sugar. Love that you can pick out the honey scent so well! I can't help but associate the aroma with Molto Dolce, likely because MD contains the same honey topping used here. Or they may use this stuff as a base for MD, I don't know. At any rate, it's a lovely aroma. Moisture content, while expectedly quite moist, is much lower than some of the other goopier Sutliffs. And it lights/burns perfectly right out of the bag anyway. Billowy, creamy loads of smoke, with tastes reminiscent of honey toast. Delicious in my book, and phenomenal room note! It's like a toned down molto dolce without the baby powder aroma or filmy mouth coating. Had some mild tongue bite now and then, probably more my fault, but all in all, it's a nicely balanced aro at an excellent price point. I'd give it 3.5 on an aromatic weighted scale.

Pouch note is sweet with a brown sugar essence. Cut is very thin ribbon. Packs and lights easily and the honey flavor stays pretty consistent throughout. Very low on the nicotine level. Can burn a little on the hot side if over-puffed. A good choice for an early morning pipe, just a little too meek for my tastes.

Smoking Sutliff #206 is an experience divided into three stages. The first part of the bowl is all about the honey topping--the flavor is spot-on for honey and should satisfy any sweet tooth. Next, you'll taste the cavendish and Virginia tobaccos which have their own natural flavor that's reminiscent of honey, with some pleasant grassy notes as well. Finally (and where I lose interest in the blend) you'll taste a nutty smoke from the burleys taking over, with no honey flavor left to speak of.

My pouch of #206 was a little bit on the moist side and it can bite just a tad if you're careless. The coarse ribbon cut lights easily and burns evenly down the bowl with a few relights. #206 is a moderately enjoyable smoke, but not one I see myself revisiting once this pouch is through.

If you like honey and if you like aromatic pipe tobacco, this is for you! The pouch note in the room note truly smell like real honey. The mouth feel is decent and the flavoring truly taste like honey. I’m not talking about honey sweetened tobacco; I mean a real, pure honey flavor.
