The orange and red Virginias combine to offer tangy ripe dark fruit, earth, a little sugar and tingly spice, along with a touch of wood and citrus. They also have a light rough edge and fermented quality. The nic-hit is mild to medium. The strength is closer to medium than it is to mild, and the taste level is just a step beyond medium. Won’t bite or get harsh, and has no dull moments, though there’s not much complexity here. Burns cool and clean at slightly less than a moderate pace with fairly consistent flavor, but seems a little stronger in the last third of the experience. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, and needs a few relights. Has a pleasant, lingering after taste, and room note. Not quite an all day smoke, but it is a repeatable one.

This is an intense Virginia that lacks the finesse of FVF or Dunhill Flake but has spicy flavors in spades. Gathers strength towards the end of the bowl. A case of too much of a good thing here and this blend needs something milder to help balance it out. Enjoyed the matured leaf nevertheless and would recommend to all Va. lovers.
