Leonard Dingler LTD Nineteen O'Four (1904) Vanilla Blend

(2.00)
Another true 1904 brand tobacco, as rich in tradition as it is in aroma. A smooth, slow burning blend of the best light and dark tobacco's, with a distinctive, subtle vanilla flavour.
Notes: A long time South African producer with deep roots in the British colonial era, Leonard L. Dingler LTD was acquired in 1999 by the huge Scandanavian Tobacco conglomerate known as Swedish Match, AG, who with its partner Scandinavian Tobacco Company. claims to be one of the largest pipe tobacco mass producers in the world owning such famous marquee brands as Half & Half, Granger, Borkum Riff, Erinmore & W.0. Larsen.

One of the worst I've tried. Not only your tongue will be scorched by cheap Cavendish, but your taste buds will suffer the horror of an unidentified chemical used for flavoring.

Stay away from this.

If you can find a Dingler "1904" Vanilla 50 gram (1.76 Oz) yellow & black foldup pouch at your tobacconist do try it. These Swedish Match AG mass produced 1904 brands provide a comfortable and value priced introduction to some of the brawny, more physical leaf found in Southern Africa burleys and allied tobacs. While this 1904er did not have as much of a sweet aro casing or topping as I normally like in my Vanillas, it strongly resembles Dingler's 1904 Original Blend which I previously provided *** stars plus.

I've found these robust burley varieties are apt for blending so you'd be fine adding a favorite Vanilla laced condiment tobac to the pouch. Wish I could find these in bulk offerings; does anyone know where? The massive Scandanavian Tobbaco Group, in conjunction with Swedish Match, is assertively marketing 1904 in other parts of the world, as it does with Borkum Riff which has near global distribution. We may be seeing 1904ers showing up in US American emporiums soon if it hasn't happened already. Happy hunting!
