Every pipe smoker looks back with a pleasant sigh upon the first tobacco they smoked that opened their eyes to just how enjoyable this hobby really is and why so many people indulge in it. This tobacco is not necessarily their first smoke. If you were like me, I bought a cheap pipe, a drugstore cherry blend, and my first couple of smokes were hardly enjoyable! But then I bought a Savinelli pipe and an ounce of Chief Paduke and was turned into a lover of the briar and leaf. As it turns out, my much more mature, experienced pipe-smoking-palate still welcomes this blend.
So what makes this blend so enjoyable? I know most black cavendish blends tend to fall into two categories: those that taste like vanilla and those that don't. This one DOES taste like vanilla, but not ONLY vanilla. I also detect fruit flavors: some cherry, some raisin, and even a hint of chocolate. It burns slowly, evenly, and you can puff like a chimney with no fear of any tongue bite. The way this is toasted contributes to its delightful taste and room note. It smokes great in all types of pipes and produces a very thick, rich smoke. It is also useful if you are wanting to sweeten up a blend that is either too woody or burns too hot. Thank you owners of Tobacco Lane!
