Overall, a disappointing blend. This had some age on it, and so I expected the cavendish to take a back seat. The tin aroma was magical--golden raisins and bread. But this blend, as others have said, smokes hot, bites, and this coming from a careful, slow smoker. Packed it in a dependable old savinelli oscar, but I should have tried it in a smaller bowl, because I did not want to smoke this to the end. There are pleasant things about it: I found that it certainly does not cause gurgling, that the burnt sugar flavor lingers pleasantly in the mouth, and it was an easy light and an even burn.

This was my first Davidoff purchase and I was very impressed from the first bowl on. The Virginia shines under what I feel is a subtle aromatic. I know the tin I am smoking is old, but I have no idea exactly how old. It is a little bitey so patience should be administered. It has both a great side stream and room note making a great public smoke.

Just finishing up my tin, I have concluded it is my favortie aromatic to date.

THE benchmark aromatic blend in my humble opinion. An extreme statement for sure, but one that's not made frivolously.

Davidoff Danish is an understated aromatic with emphasis on superb Virginia flavour. The light room note of toast, brown sugar and maple serves merely to heighten the smoking experience. And to draw approving comments from bystanders.

One may smoke this repeatedly without fatigue or loss of interest. Though Virginia leaf predominates, the skillful addition of burley (and presumably oriental) lends perfect roundness and spice. The tiny amount of black cavendish is barely noticeable, but perhaps responsible for its bewitching aroma.

This tobacco is pricey, and I don't like that aspect of it. So I always purchase in quantity when it goes on sale. And I've never regretted a single order. Remarkably consistent, satisfying and enjoyable to the final puff.

This is a perfectly acceptable Danish style aromatic. As others have noted, it is average in every sense without any particular quality of note. It is the smooth jazz of Danish style aromatics. If you are looking for something that will not challenge you in any way, and has no highs or lows, than you may love this blend. For everyone else this is probably not going to warrant a second look.

Like all Davidoff products it is of good quality tobacco with a rather unique ribbon cut that is a little chunkier and less ribbony than average. It has some cavendish, and a sweet mild topping of nondescript flavor. It takes a few tries to get it lit, but burns well enough once it gets going. It will bite a little if puffed too quickly. The flavor remains mild throughout, and the nicotine content is negligible. This is not a good or bad thing, but is worth noting for those considering how this fits their personal taste.

Overall this one is forgettable. It is possible to have both a rich and mild smoke, but Danish Mixture misses this benchmark and this simply lacks anything making it worth buying a second time.

Bought a tin of this because of the praise it gets everywhere; often claimed to be the best danish mixture around. Well, looking at the price of the 50 gram tin (about 12,50€ in Germany), it better should be... After opening, one will see rather thin cut, medium to long fibres of tobacco in color ranging from almost yellow light brown to medium brown. The smell reminds me somehow of raisins, but not in a bad, harsh way, rather light, very natural. Moisture after opening is perfect, no further airing needed before smoking. The blend lights alright, tends to burn hot and get bity, so smoke carefully. Taste reminded me of Mac Baren's Mixture Scottish Blend, just without the slightly overdone honey-topping and an overall lighter smoke, with just a very little hint of vanilla (?) flavouring.

I was a little disappointed at first by Davidoff's Danish Mixture, since it is pretty similar to MB's Mixture at almost double the price. By now, I can say it is a decent mixture, but has nothing too special about it. Somehow recommended, but not a "must have".

I must say I was somewhat dissapointed by this blend, in light of its price and Davidoffian-glorified presentation.

The pouch aroma alludes to complex though not too sweet earthy-fruity dimensions. It burns better when dried a little and presents very little nicotine kick. Not much aromatic complexity when smoking it.

Not a tobacco I would be enthused with.

I've bought some tins a few years ago in France, at the Paris airport duty free shop, and I've smoked the last bowl in December 2012. It's quite expensive, but at average price for selected tobaccoes. Good medium cut and moisture, with a half way between english mixtures (this is a bit more sweet and light) and aromatic danish aroma at opening.

Aroma: not strong, not bad, but nothing more. Not really aromatic, by me.

Taste: quite good, but it lacks something to be satisfying. Very little bitey, but... no real personality.

Room note: mild to tolerable, only sligthly sweet.

Burning: good. Just a little bit on the fast side, but OK.

Best Briars: common briars, not dedicated.

This tobacco is not bad, but, by me, surely not the best Davidoff available: i.e. Scottish Mixture (a good but not terrific mixture), is far better. I ask much more to a premium (and not cheap) trade-mark like Davidoff: two stars and half.

Not too much of a tongue bite. All in all its alright, the reason I only gave it 3 stars is because of the price. The price of this tobacco can be on the expensive side.

Please take this review with a grain of salt as I am a true foe of aromatics.

I bought this tobacco lured by the Davidoff name and because it was the favorite of a long gone but much admired and respected gent who was a keen pipe smoker. What a terrible disappointment!

On opening the tin, the aroma was not as strong as some other aromatics (e.g. Stanwell's Danish Blend) but it was pleasant. The tobacco was a bit humid but smokeable. However, I rubbed some of the thin long ribbon cut (not quite a shag as someone said) and let it air for some hours.

Lightly packing a disposable but well broken corncob I keep for trials, the smoke out of the charring light was thick and oily but almost totally flat. The note on my nose, instead of an enticing dessert suggested some burned out fruitcake.

The true light brought a fairly decent amount of smoke but less than a dozen draws on, the pipe started to gurgle. Please note that this is a cob that is truly resistant to gurgling even with the dampest fills, having a large "sump" beneath the stem.

The blend smokes fairly hot so it demands a very slow pace; even so, it bites like a mad Dobermann!

I'm extremely sorry to have gotten three tins of this to ease the post charges. Besides, the price is a true rip-off, just like some fashionable branded polo shirts that at $200 are cheaper made than a $25 Costco item.

I shall stay away from this. Will one of the four stars reviewers take two unopened tins in trade for a GLP Meridian one?

I bought this only because the local tobacconist ran out of Royalty. At first I was a bit disappointed as I found it too sweet. Now that it has dried out a bit, it is more enjoyable and tastes of sultana and banana. The smell from the tin is also not as overpowering and notes of honey, nut, maple and chocolate can be detected. The room note is still somewhat sweet, but tolerable. It requires tamping more frequently compared to English mixture and and after a while it becomes gurgly and somewhat soapy\ashy although barely noticeable. I've blended this with some English mixture and found the taste more appealing and it produced less oil. All in all, it is good quality tobacco but does not satisfy entirely and there are probably better mixtures available at the same price.

This seems to be a copy (taste-wise) of Larsen's No. 50, with walnut/honey/maple hints, beautiful medium-brown ribbons of high tobacco quality. Very pleasant room note, though the smoking process itself is a bit boring, as the smoke doesn't really develop. Not to be confused with saucy, bitter-sweet aromatics (Planta) - this blend is subtle, delicate, elegant and gentle. Smoke it with patience, else it will bite. Not a fantastic tobacco, but a good "light aromatic". 3 of 5 stars

Top quality tobacco as you'd expect from Davidoff.

Oh boy, is it expensive or what ? Nearly £14 for 50g.

Is it worth it ? Well yes I think it probably is.

Superb tin aroma as other reviewers have said. It's a little on the dry side and comes in a round tin with a round paper cover that even has a thumb/finger shapre pressed in it for ease of access. All this topped off with the usual ruff.

It's golden brown and so dry I had to dig it out with a pipe tool. A little rubbing then it's ready to load. Delicate touch here will reward you with a fine lengthy smoke that needs few relights.

Taste (inevitably) doesn't reflect the opening tin aroma, but it's still quite sweet with a mild subtle taste. Some of these Danish blends can be a little harsh and bitey, but this one is unlikely to bite unless your'e a demon puffer.

Well worth a try if you're into aromatics and feeling a little flush, and well worth having in your collection.

I'm sorry to begin my first review on a negative note, but this was a huge disappointment. I bought a tin from an official Davidoff retailer, so I guess that issues of proper storage don't get into it. Fact is, only one word that I know describes this blend, and it's the french "écoeurant". Confronted with Davidoff Danish Mixture, I encountered the same problem I had some time ago with Amphora tobaccos: the smell of the casing is heavy, sticky, sweet and artificial, and it borders on disgusting. I'm trying to get around this by letting it air a lot in a faraway room (even if it's pretty dry from the beginning). Smoked outside it allows for pleasant moments, all in all; indoors it develops an oversweet cloud that satiates your senses way before the bowl is over. Perhaps it's me, but I can't seem to find a way to get on the wavelenght of these tobaccos. Gimme natural virginia any time... When I think that I could have bought a tin of 965 for about the same price, I feel like kicking my own derrière.

Well, you know, this might be a good advertisement; I traveled about 250 miles to get three tins of this tobacco!

I used to smoke Captain Black White, and then suddenly it was not available anymore in the markets. I thought I can go get some decent tobacco instead from the Capital, and I had Dunhill Early Morning Pipe in my mind.

I was disappointed many times after I got there, the only tobacco tins I found were Erinmore Mixture, and I tried this one before it was not so nice (it was wet and sour like a lemon; that was its main defect; in all cases, it is incomparable to Danish Mixture Davidoff).

After a long search, well i come across Davidoff Red (or mild) Mixture, Davidoff Blue Mixture, Davidoff Green (or light) Mixture, Davidoff Scottish mixture, Davidoff Danish Mixture. Then, it was the moment when I had to seek your help, and as I found that the Danish Mixture was rated 3 out of four, I chose it.

Now, I am home, and I am enjoying it. I just find it a little bit different; it is heavy in nicotine (which is something not necessarily negative if you like to get a little dizzy after smoking a big bowl), it burns hot; my pipes got so hot and I suppose it is due to smoking it fast. The taste it great, only if you managed slow the pace of your smoking; if you could not, the only thing you will feel is a tongue bite and burning bowl, and probably a sore throat.

It is dry and seldom leaves any wet dottle.

While you taste the mixture, you can detect something that reminds you of Dunhill Early Morning, but I doubt that anyone would notice it. The taste is intoxicating; I can not describe it but all I can say is that it is great.

Out of all pipe tabacco out there, Davidoff's quality is definitelly unquestionable. Having said this, their blends often lack the complexity or boldness of some true classics, and this is true of the Danish Mixture also.

Overall very nice taste of amaranto, chocolate and charries, but with few suprises or variances throughout, hence lacking the special punch to make it a 4 star blend.

Having just migrated from Cuban cigars to high end pipe tabacco, I particularly enjoyed the balanced and refined taste, lack of bite and the naturalnes of the tabacco (without to many huimidifying chemicals, so common these days in many blends).

I am currently going trough the entire Davidoff line and have found the Danish and the Scotish blends to be among my favorites in the serach for a comparable experience to top of the line Cuban cigars.

I have found that when smoked in a conical bowl, this one improves significantly. I have dedicated my two Poul Winslow pipes to this tobacco...... and I do not usually like Danish Mixtures.

This is my least favorite of the Davidoffs. I am a definite Davidoff lover, but not much of a Danish man. I generally find Danish blends to be two overpoweringly sweet and heavily cased. Many have a heavy Cherry flavor and since I am mildly alergic to Cherries, I find this unappealing. Occassionally I will reach for this Danish when I am in a particular mood as I find it to be the lightest and least sickeningly sweet Danish I have come across. It also tastes and smells to me less like Cherry and more like Raisin or Brandied Apricot. As with all Davidoffs, only the finest tobacco.

If you are looking for a milder Danish, you should give this a try.

SORRY BUT I DISAGREE IN CERTAIN POINTS PIPESTUD

It is quite similar to the WO Larssen No50, but with a stronger flavor of plum.

It is better if you smoke it, some time after you open it and it needs to get dry.

It is an elegant tobacco. It is the classic Danish Mixture. It is possible to burn the tongue more than other Danish mixes. It isn' t easy to light. It is quite heavy.

WO Larssen No50 VS Davidoff Danish Mixture = 4 - 2

I will not get sad, if I don?t find it in the future.

I let this tobacco air-dry for 20 minutes, and was rewarded with a Danish honey smoke that lasted nearly an hour. This reminds me of MacBaren Mixture, but I think I like it a bit more than that Mac.

Some depth partway through the bowl, but a nice monochromatic treat. Quality leaf with a good nose, too; the tin aroma is wonderful. Little tongue bite.

I will enjoy the rest of the tin, and will probably buy more.

This is a wonderful blend. It is very mild with zero tongue bite. The taste reminds me of honey and perhaps a whiff of maple. It burns to a clean dry ash. I can compare this blend to Larsen's Blend #80 which I love. If you like aromatic danish type tobacco then try this great blend.

This is the davidoff version of the typical Danish mixture. It is not unlike the WO Larssen selected blend no 50, but with more of a cherry casing. It is better a few months after opening the tin, it needs some drying out. It comes in typical davidoff ribbon cut and is an elegant tobacco. Somewhat more likely to burn your tongue than other Danish blends (except Mac Baren?s ? but these are really quite different than what I find typical Danish are). What makes this one good, is it?s nicotine content. Mild to medium, but I can definitely feel little buzz after a big bowl of this.

A refined and easy to smoke quality tobacco . Quite expensive for a decent but not memorable Danish mix .

I tried this once and maybe it was how I was smoking at the time, it was a wonderful change of pace, a nice mild Danish. Since then, I've tried two cans over time and found the same thing, great flavor, and a real tendency to bite if smoked too fast. Also, if you let this blend dry out a bit, it will also smoke hotter, so keep it humidified. Where I've seen it in stores, it tends to be more expensive than it's worth, but if you like Danish blends, it does have a great flavor, and is a good big bowl pipe blend.

A very nice, not at all gooey or syrupy mixture of toasted Black Cavendish, Burley and mild Virginias. Similar to some of Larsen's offerings, and far superior to other similar Danish concoctions (Petresen & Sorensen, Skandinavik, MacBaren), this one has a very elegant aroma and the taste is very refined: sweet and nutty, but not overwhelming.

In the tin, the tobaccos comes slightly moist, but not sticky. The leaf used is of a very high quality and itis easy to pack and light. It does lack body and structure, but overall it is a very refined and civilised smoke. Careful with its mildnes: it can lead to tongue bite.

In the tin it smells like a cherry-heavy fruitcake aged with rum, quite nice & sweet. Smokes well & cool- with that cherry flavour dominating slightly above any natural tobacco taste, there is some virginia sweetness coming through there as well though, but mildly. No evidence of tongue-bite, although the second half of the bowl tended towards sharpness & the flavour was dissapating- common to aromatics. Though I found it tolerable & a bit of normal tobacco taste coming through towards the end. All in all - a good quality smoke, recommended.
