Another sample I grabbed at Peter Heinrichs shop in Bergheim (Chateau Henri, with a integrated pipe museum, tipp for anyone living near!).

The scent from the sample bag is slightly spicy, tobacco-y and has a tad of honey-ish sweetness to it. No. 137 is a ribbon cut with colors from bright to dark and looks and smells pretty inconspicuous. When sticking my nose into the sample bag I get the feeling of a mild casing that may have been applied to the Black Cavendish.

Lighting No. 137 up validates my thoughts from the unburnt scent. The Black Cavendish gives a toasted, vanilla-ish aroma. Very mild, but present from the start. Accompanied by....mhm, by what? By a slight tobacco-y and spicy aroma - nothing more. This is as bland as a blend can get. Not much flavors to detect besides the slightly tobacco-y spice and the mildly scented Black Cavendish that almost gives a perfumy (very artificial n aroma. Very little honey-ish sweetness in the back.

A truly boring pipe's not even particulary mild, it's a bit harsh in smoke and leaves an unpleasant after taste. Usually I like natural mixtures, but I had to dump the filling after the first has a unpleasant, perfumy taste to it, is harsh in the mouthfeeling and tastes like cardboard mostly.

Sry Peter...this must be the worst tobacco I've smoked from their house blends (of which there are a lot of very good ones!). This is one of the very rare occasions I'll have to rate a blend 1/4 stars, really nothing positive about it sadly.
