The grass and citrus from the Virginia are greatly sublimated by rich rum and vanilla toppings. The vanilla is mild and takes a subordinate position behind the rum. The sugary black cavendish is always obvious. The strength is in the center of mild to medium, and the taste is a couple of steps past that mark. Barely has any nicotine. Won’t bite or get harsh. Needs a little dry time, but burns clean, cool and a tad slow with a very consistent flavor from top to bottom. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, but no goop. Requires some relights if not dried. Has a very pleasantly lingering after taste and room note. An all day smoke.

Possibly one of my favourite Brigham's. My dear friend and brother gave me a pinch and it was extremely pleasant. The rum shines through without being over-bearing and the vanilla is a subtle hint throughout the bowl. Clearly premium tobaccos make this a tobacco I will miss when it's gone.

I kept overlooking this tin at my store for a long time. The description really did not peak my interest. Finally took the plunge and was pleasantly surprised. Not overly-cased. Nice balance. Certainly WAY better than 90% of the Brigham pouch styled PG doused Aros. I reach for this when I want something with some sweetness to it or need to impress the neighbors.

Very nice. Has the usual bitter chem taste at the start as with any aromatic. It is overcome by an nice sweet rum with only a hint of Vanilla. If you get a tad carried away trying to lap up the rummy vanilla goodness it will nip a little, so sip slowly in a larger bowl. One must realize that a three star to me is quite outstanding and above average. I recommend this to the Canuck croud who perhaps have an easier time getting a hold of this. This is one of the finer Brigham blends I have run across. Thanks, merci, diolch

Brigham Enterprises Inc. - Ripley Avenue.

Prominently medium brown ribbons, with a few specks of black and gold. The aromatic additions come across well from the tin, the rum especially. The moisture of it's good.

The topping covers, to a certain extent, a lot of the tobacco nuances. It's quite heavily flavoured, yet not 'sticky' seeming; if that makes sense. Because of the larger amount of brown Cavendish, compared to black, the smoke isn't monopolized by a cloying taste of vanilla. There is a delicately added vanilla flavour, but it's quite light. The rum has been included in a larger quantity, being molasses-sweet, and slightly piquant. The temperature's quite low, and it only bites when pushed.

Nicotine: mild to medium. Room-note: pleasant.

Ripley Avenue: it's alright, but when I want a vanilla/rum aromatic, there's lots better available. Two stars:

Somewhat recommended.

I think this may have been a variation on reiner yellow label, and I wish Brigham had not gone the way of the dinosaurs. These were good blends.

This was surprisingly dry for an aromatic, and had lots of vanilla in the taste, double or triple what it had in rum. Was a mostly brown and gold blend with a very sweet smell in the tin.

The taste was a solid medium but it had a tendency to bite if not smoked out of a well broken in pipe. I have a special cob which I meticulously maintain as well as any of my expensive pipes, as the carbon in it is so thick that it allows even the most hidden flavors to surface in an aromatic. This blend was one I often smoked in it, as it didn't have nearly as much flavor in most of my other pipes. I still have a couple tins and will enjoy them.
