I recently received a few of these old tins to sell, but decided that I just had to try some, so, I purchased a tin for myself. When I popped the tin, I first received the most naturally sweet Virginia smell I had ever encountered. The broken flakes within were still moist and a very dark red and black in some spots. Sugary crystals were all over the place. These flakes felt like oily silk when I gathered a wad and loaded it in my pipe. At the match, I drifted immediately off to Heaven. Deeply rich and fermented Virginia flavor with a depth and natural sweetness I have never before encountered. Smooth and creamy from top to bottom with a variety of flavor presentations as I worked my way down the bowl. By the time I hit the sweet spot at the bottom third, I thought I was going to pass out from the richness and palate pleasing presentation. Folks, I kid you not, this was perhaps the finest straight Virginia I have ever smoked. I wanted to buy the rest of these tins for myself, but the very tiny remnant of gentleman I have in me said to "share the wealth." It ain't easy being a gentleman. )-:

Absolutely incredible! Mind blowingly delicious. Starts off raspberry with something like a lingonberry finish all the while a dark chocolate taste seems to brood under the fruitiness. The middle of the bowl is pure magic, so many different tastes come to the fore, then recede to the background, breadpudding, chocolate( dark, milk and bittersweet) a hint of yup, you guessed it, nuttiness like pecans. there are moments that taste like ground coffee beans on buttered toast, a touch of hazelnut. The intense fruitiness subsides then all of a sudden comes rushing back. This is what Gawith FVF wishes it could be! Getting towards the bottom of the bowl and there is a depth I havent experienced before in any tobacco. Last night I was enjoying a bowl of this incredible virginia and I had to put the pipe down because of work, I was gone 22 minutes the bowl was still lit! Of course this is a big bowl but come on!! The most amazing thing about this baccy is that the taste lingers on your palate longer than anything I have ever smoked. I woke up this morning tasting this and throughout the day there were little taste memories popping up in my mouth(even after brushing, flossing and gargling). A truly legendary, exhilarating tobacco. Right up there with PCCA Millenium, the millenium on the red spectrum, this on the dark, oily spectrum.WOW. Maybe the good folks over at McClelland could come out with something like this again? It would sell likie hotcakes!
