Georgetown Tobacco Persuasion
(3.00)
An updated blend with a finer cut for easier handling. Generous portions of Latakia are perfectly balanced with Oriental and Virginia tobaccos. The aroma is rich and the smoke is soft and gentle.

The musty, sweet Cyprian Latakia provides a wealth of smoke, earth, wood, floralness, some vegetation, herbs, and mild spice as the lead component. The fragrant, incense-like, tangy, spicy Orientals offer plenty of floralness, earth, wood, vegetation, herbs, some tart sourness and buttery sweetness, and a touch of leather as important supporting players. The Virginias produce some tart and tangy citrus, grass, bread, sugar, floralness, spice, light sour lemon, vegetation, and a hint of acidity in the third slot. There’s a very mild sugary fruit topping that lightly tones down the tobaccos. The strength is a step or past the medium threshold. The nic-hit is a notch behind that mark. The taste level is in the center of medium to strong. Won’t bite or get harsh, but the spice content may tingle the tongue if puffed beyond a moderate pace. Has a light roughness. Well balanced with some depth, it burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate with a very consistent sweet and sour, floral, spicy, zesty rich campfire flavor that extends to the pleasantly lingering after taste. The room note is pungent. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Not an all day smoke. Three stars and a half stars.

This is a mild to medium English blend. Georgetown Tobacco's house blends are unique and very high-quality. The ribbon cut is luxurious and packs well. Their house blends are fantastic, but sell at bulk/house prices - nearly half as much as comparable tinned "name brand" blends.
I believe Persuasion is like their Councilman blend, but with a higher amount of Latakia. It has some lemony citrus, a little sweetness, but with the Latakia more forward instead of way in the background.
I wouldn't say this is a copy of Dunhill 965 by any means, but it reminds me of that blend with a little more citrus. It is similar to Dunhill 965 in the balance level of Latakia. I like my English blends more subdued that way, with the orientals more pronounced.

A pleasant, if lightweight, blend of virginia, oriental and latakia tobaccos. Very well behaved in the pipe and suitable for all day smoking. Could be compared to Rattray No 7. And yes, for the quality, it is inexpensive.
My daughter was quite young when she first saw the sepia insert in the bag. She took one look at the drawing in the center and wanted to know if it was a portrait of Jane Austen!

Recommended if you like the taste of McClelland Virginias. Not recommended if you do not like this flavor. It is a nice Medium English but I am not a big fan of Ketchup. You could do worse or better. 2.5 stars.
