This mixture incorporates the finest Scandinavian tobaccos in light Cavendish cuts, skillfully blended with Scotch whiskey. Very mild.

Notes: This was an Amar Blends Co. mixture. Cornell and Diehl bought the rights of all their old recipes.

Mild to Medium Very Mild Mild to Medium Pleasant to Tolerable

This tobacco is disappointing. Not in so far as it is a bad tobacco, but that it needs some age to it. The casing from the scotch is too prevalent, and it will produce tongue bite so beware. Definately pleasant bright va's but needs more rounding out by some cavendish. My advice buy a few ounces, mason jar it, come back in a year and you'll have a great alternative to Peterson's Irish Oak.

Medium to Strong Mild Medium Tolerable

I purchased a pound of this stuff in 2003 and it was awful. I figured I could either throw it out or put it in mason jars and let it age. Cellaring it for a while was the right choice.

After eight years, I opened a jar. The smell hit me like a brick....Booze!!!! It really did smell like a Scott's pub in that jar. Not bad, not good, just booze. I loaded a pipe, with some trepidation. My first bowl burned like a flame thrower. Then it occurred to me that alcohol stoves are used on sail boats and in laboratories. I was applying an alcohol stove to my mouth.

I loaded another pipe and let it sit for a day or two to evaporate off some of the whiskey that was used for flavoring. The charring light gave me very good flavor. I let it sit. I did not want to get in a hurry and ruin my pipe smoking for another week. After several slow sipping puffs, the flavor was bold and reminded me of Peterson's Irish Whiskey. I'm not saying it was the same caliber, but it was still very good.

Down in the bowl the flavor evolved and became stronger. As a rule I don't taste dried fruit, pete moss or even dead bugs in my tobacco. I just enjoy it for what it is, and this was very enjoyable.

I gave it three stars because the tobacco got better over time, and I wanted to give Cornell & Diehl a break on this one since it got such bad reviews.

It was just as good as any three star blend I have seen reviewed here, so why not. It gets three stars after 8 years of aging. That's pretty good.

I will smoke away on this jar for a couple months and post another review. I may decide to alter my review.

Burns like blazes and bites like a badger. No whiskey taste whatsoever, a slight whiskey smell in the bag. I put the rest in a jar in the hopes that it will age well.

Very Strong Mild Full Tolerable

Like the above reviewer noted, this is an awful blend. My sample, though, had not a single taste of Whiskey. I couldn't taste anything at all but a hot smoke. I always wondered what C&D meant too, saying this blend was made from the finest Scandinavian tobaccos...not a region I think of when "finest tobaccos" are stated.

I'm sure C&D blends are made w/good quality leaf and there are more than enough blends to choose from that surely there is at least one to be found to your liking, but for me Scots Pub is not one of them. I know it's described as "very mild", but I have to say that my ratings reflect a very intolerable alcohol flavor that dominated the blend to the point that a tobacco taste was just not recognizeable. I am writing this review from a vivid memory of the one time I smoked this stuff; I picked up a coupla sample bags @ a pipe show. The aroma in the baggie was so-so, but I tried this on a trip out doing errands & upon first lighting it that flavor was THERE, and it stayed THERE. Way too much Scotch whiskey I guess. It was hot and ashy tasting and I couldn't wait to get where I was going so I could empty my pipe; I didn't want the smell in my truck or my pipe any more than it already was. This is one of only two bowls of tobak that I can remember emptying after about 2-3 minutes. No way was I gonna even try to smoke that bowl. I made sure that pipe was thoroughly cleaned when I got back home, and the rest of the sample found the trash can. I really don't like to be harsh or cruel, and in all fairness maybe it was a "bad batch" or something went wrong, but I'll not try it again. Sorry C&D, it didn't work for me.
