The double toasted burleys are toasty, woody, earthy, and very nutty with a little cocoa. While it may be used as a RYO, it’s does well as a pipe tobacco product with the nic-hit being a slot past the center of mild to medium. The strength is a step short of medium. The taste is medium. Puffed at a moderate rate, it’ll mostly keep its flavor, and not get harsh. Puffed fast, you risk a few some cigarette notes, and a hint of a harsh note. It won't bite. Has no casing or topping. Burns quickly, but not hot, and clean with a very consistent flavor as it easily burns to ash. Leaves almost no moisture in the bowl, and requires very few relights. Has a pleasantly lingering after taste. An uncomplicated all day smoke that does even better with a very light hydration. Also makes a good mixer. Three and a half stars.

Two Timer is a blend that reminded me of my first girlfriend (the name only), this one was much more refined than she ever was, but in a no nonsense sort of way. Just a down home earthy Burley that will satisfy your tobacco craving long after the bowl has been smoked - and that won't take long as Two Time, like that first girlfriend of mine, burns fast and then is gone.

This is straight burley and nothing else. I smoked this in a corncob. First couple lites zonked me in the nose a little bit and then settled down to an earthy smoke. Not much complexity here, just baccy. You may prefer to roll this tobacco if enjoy a cigarette from time-to-time.

Just a decent Burnley blend without PPG or any over the top flavorings. However, it burns really fast, so it's only suitable for a short smoke.

D & R Tobacco - Two Timer.

This review's from a 40g tin.

The ribbons are very fine, they could almost qualify as being shag-cut. The moisture presents the same problem I've had with a few D&R blends: too dry. Although it's dry it's nowhere near as dehydrated as the tin of Ramback I reviewed recently. But that's like saying breaking an arm doesn't hurt as much as breaking a leg; neither ones particularly pleasant!

Onto the smoke: great taste but burns way too quick. I can't find a fault with the actual flavour, it screams high quality: nutty and toasty. The problem arises with the burn: way too fast, and also a bit too hot. If it wasn't for this it would be a steadfast 4 star blend, but it wouldn't be fair to give it full marks when taking the burn into consideration Mind you, it doesn't bite!

The nicotine's medium and I find the room-note quite pleasant.

Because of the burn I can only recommend it instead of highly recommending it.

Three stars.

I smoke more Two Timer than everything else combined. It my constant companion in the 88 Cadillac Fleetwood, tooling down a Wisconsin country road. The cut and humidity are perfect for me, but you may want to hydrate it a bit if it initially isn't for you. The flavor is burley-burley-burley and is best smoked in a cob. Sweet, lots of smoke, and it lasts about fifteen minutes. This is VERY different than most burleys out there in that there is no harshness and it is light, not heavy - the complete opposite of the C&D Burley Flakes. Mark Ryan is now my favorite tobacconist. I respect his approach to the majority of the D&R catalog in that they have no casings or toppings.

Decent Burley flavor with a good bit of harshness. Might be because it's so dry. Burns quick but not too terribly hot.

Mild to medium in body and flavor.

EDIT: 9/10/16 The above review was from a 2 ounce bulk order from P&C. Since then I have ordered a 1 lb bag from SmokingPipes and the tobacco was in much better condition. This is a really nice smoke. No harshness in this one and a great toasty, nutty burley flavor. Raising this from 1 to 3 stars. Be careful how you order these D&R blends. I highly recommend the 1 lb bags.

Simple no frills burley. If it's done right, there's almost nothing else that I would rather smoke. Mark Ryan uses a double toasting process which enhances the overall depth and sweetness of the burley used in this mixture. Two Timer is a very good smoke. The flavor is rich, nutty, bitter sweet and somewhat spicy. This blend can be smoked right from the tin with no dry time required. It does burn quickly, roughly 30 minutes per smoke in my favorite Group 3 sized Falcon bowl, but it tastes great. One thing is for certain, you're not paying for water weight here and rarely has 3.5 ounces of packaged tobacco seemed like such a boon. The nicotine strength is near medium, and the tobacco flavor strength is a hair above that. Sometimes it's the blending that makes a mixture fantastic, other times the tobaccos are top notch and it's hard to go wrong. With Two Timer, it's a bit of both. Altogether, this is one of the better straight natural burley blends that I have had the pleasure of putting a match to. Practically right up there with Uhle's Blend 00.

Two TImer and Two Timer Gold both made great RYO sticks as I believe they were meant to. The toasting really reminded me of Lucky Strikes and I thoroughly enjoyed my tins. I could see how one would smoke this out of a pipe and enjoy it but the cut is really suited for RYO IMHO... Extremly high quality tobacco!!!

This is a good RYO tobacco. Much better than any cheap convenient store tobacco. This is not going to be to good in a pipe. Has a nice nutty flavor and a mild smoke. I recommend to any RYO cig maker wanting a tobacco thats not to complex.
