This has quickly become one of my new favorites. It came rather damp out of the jar and tough to light, but even this early (one week in) without any overt drying, (I keep it in a jar at home) on a partially low humidity day, the flavor really blossoms.
I have enjoyed many burley blends, but have never noticed the vaunted "nutty" note until this blend. And it complements the VERY NATURAL cherry perfectly. It reminds me of a dessert that is flavored with baked cherry pits. The burley is naturally sweet and has a soft edge of that bright tartness that you get with many bright burleys. The moisture can kick back slightly as I have noticed with many burleys.
There is just enough tobacco flavor to go well with the topping and not overwhelm it. It carries in a dead-on way that hard to describe and also elusive "tobacco-shop tobacco" taste that is reminiscent of a very pleasant naturally sweet cigar, and this is again, likely due to the top-quality Kentucky leaf. Don't expect this to ghost your pipe heavily. If you are looking for something to satisfy a sweet tooth, go elsewhere, but for a very high quality base tobacco with a gentle, easy smoking flavor and blend with a room note that will make non-smokers happy, it is hard to get better than this.
