The Smoker Fred Goldring Special

(4.00)
This blend was expertly crafted by Mel Feldman for noted pipe and tobacco connoisseur Fred Goldring. Now available to the general public for the very first time, this medium-full Latakia based tobacco features a complex combination of wonderful Virginias with a significant amount of Cyprian leaf and a touch a perique for body.

The Smoker blends don't seem to get reviewed. They were re-launched by P&C a little while ago and Russ Oulette did a good job romanticising "The Smoker" and Mel Feldman. These blends are expensive at 10.95 for 1.5oz. They were recently on sale so I tried 4 of them cause I'm a sucker for romanticism.

Up first is Goldring. The virginias are smooth and form a solid spine with more than enough latakia for smokey creaminess. The perique is there just for a bit of zip and the turkish is subdued in the background.

This is a very good blend and I certainly could see myself smoking it on a regular basis -- except for the regular price. Judging from the dust on the lid of my can I have a feeling these blends are not flying off the shelf.

this is a heavy english blend.it has plenty of latakia & perique, although blended very well so that neither one is overpowering but thrir presence is very much there.virginia gives it a slight sweetness and a pleasant tang. i find it far preferable to nightcap, for instance.in fact this blend is what many other english/balkans want to be try this, really,a great blend.
