G. L. Pease Southfarthing

(4.00)
This very special Hobbit pipeweed, believed to be one of Gimli's favorites, was secretly stashed on a remote island on Toad Lake in Northern Canada. There, sealed in it's original barrels, it has remained, safe, secure and in perfect condition until its recent discovery. Modern scientific analysis shows that Southfarthing is a deep, rich blend of Latakia from Cyprus, red, yellow and stoved Virginia ribbon from the New World and exotic small-leaf tobaccos from the Orient. Only 250 tins of this rare pipeweed could be produced.
Notes: NASPC 2001 blend.

The rarest of the Hobbit pipe weed, Southfarthing is a loaded up Latakia blend that is reigned in by some Virginia and Oriental leaf. I noted quite a bit of flavor but not a lot of strength (typical of a lot of Latakia/Oriental style tobaccos). If you are a full flavor Latakia lover and want to try something that is truly special, hunt down a tin of this stuff.

Got this from an acquaintance who no longer sells on eBay. Wanted to hold onto this one for a lot longer than I could, but it had a large rust hole at the bottom that unfortunately dried the whole tin. Opened it up, rehydrated it and now sits perfectly in a Mason jar, but of course I had to try it. Infact I had to stop myself, I have less than half of it left. Although I feel I've been cheated out of some of the flavor due to it drying out, it's still a fantastic blend that I recommend anyone to grab one if you ever see it for sale (when the stars align). After 18 years of age it has a very mellow body but quite the variety of pleasant flavors. It seems to taste a little different every time I smoked it, with obvious hints of nuts, cocoa and things I can't really put my finger on. I did find that, even though with how mellow it was, it would still bite a tad if you smoked it too fast, but left no moisture. Lovely aftertaste and even the wife found the room note tolerable, I love this blend and would buy more in a heartbeat!
