pipesandcigars.com Pine Grove

(3.13)
Reminiscent of the smells of a quiet morning stroll through a dew dampened old pine forest floor. This blend is made to be shared with yourself and the noises of early rising creatures.

This is a neat little tobacco. I sense that it has some aromatic tendencies, from the black Cavendish no doubt. All in all, it is a really good blend to me. I am smoking it as we speak, in the morning on an empty stomach and it is not knocking me down. I can detect the pine flavoring and aroma, but it has just enough latakia to give it the good ol' tobacco taste. I highly recommend it!

This is one of those English blends that is trying to be aromatic. It still fails the wife test. Although, to be fair, pretty much anything with Latakia fails the wife test. Anyway, the smoke is very light and clean. The faint pine taste needs to be looked for, but it is there. There is a smell of burning pine cones that slides in and out of the aroma. Mostly, though, it is a good light English. It packs well and burns down to a fine ash. If you've not packed too many tobaccos of this style, it can be a learning experience. It is forgiving when you get careless and stuff the bowl full. However, it is less patient when you puff too vigorously. This is a good transition tobacco for those coming to English from aromatics. Burley lovers will find this to be old hat and feel right at home. English smokers should look at this one as merely a change of pace and not a staple go-to.

This is an exceptional aromatic unlike any other I have tried; there is a distinct latakia flavor which is masterfully joined with the BC and topping, and in my opinion, this topping is actually faintly, faintly reminiscent of pine in some strange way. I find myself more and more enamored with this blend---it is just so very well done and innovative.

A terrific crossover from aromatics to English. This blend is light on the Latakia, but it was intended that way. The casing is subtle, almost hard to detect unless you put your mind to it and smoke past the 1/2 way point. A great wake up blend with a medium roast coffee, but not tea........

I do get a definte notice of fresh-cut pine at the start that gives way quickly to the subtle smokiness at this blend's center. I would rate the smoking experience as sharp without any discomfort and enjoyable without any difficulty.

A wonderful light English non-flowery aromatic.

This is a sweet aromatic where the taste of tobacco really shines through. There is just the tiniest hint of Latakia that pierces the sweet pine cone veil.

Images evoked include a demiurge guarding the Abyss, laughing in momentous joy at having successfully cast the yuppie iniate into the bottomless pit.

Another nice English/Aromatic. Beautiful to look at dark ribbon with plenty of Latakia. Yet it is not a strong English and would appeal to cross-over smokers. In some ways this seems like a gently cased version of McClelland's Coyote Classic.

Give this a try if you like light Latakia flavors but want a lighter bodied, slightly sweet, smoke.

This smokey tasting blend containing Cyprian latakia has a taste that sets it far apart from other latakia blends. No, it doesn't taste or smell like pine. What it does have is a nice, smokey latakia flavor combined with a crisp, clean taste faintly reminiscent of mint but I cannot quite determine what gives it this attribute. A very enjoyable smoke. However, it does have a tendency to bite. It packs easily and smokes without leaving any goopy substances in your pipe. It's worth a try if you enjoy latakia blends.
