An elegant black cavendish with a whisper of English walnut. It's cool as the coolest jazz, soft as velvet nights, rich and creamy. Smoke it and you'll be on Easy Street.

Oh boy ... reading some of the reviews on this blend is disheartening . This blend is excellent !! If your looking for tobacco flavors to disseminate ... this aint it . As has been mentioned in volumes , it's an all black Cavendish . It smokes Cool and Dry and the flavoring is so top notch that is creepy in a good way :) The most outstanding aspect to this blend , that I don't think has been mentioned thus far , is the mouth feel ! McClelland Has mastered this aspect in their premium aro line .The flavoring almost coats the mouth , which feels smooth . To a non aro smoker or one who doesn't enjoy the flavoring of the blend [ probably a communist ] , it might be a little strange at first , however , it is a masterful sensation that the lesser bulk aromatics usually never deliver on . If youre familiar with McClellands Holiday Sprit , it has a similar mouth feel , though different flavoring , and is an exceptional blend as well . The blend description mentions a " Whisper " of Walnut .. ha ! It's a bit more than a whisper but that's perfectly fine . It's on top of a pretty typical black Cavendish flavor and is done expertly If you dig aromatics and don't want to " take a chance " with one that wont be good ..... try this damn blend ! Edit : 11/19/16 ... Everything I wrote above is teh same but I failed to mention that after multiple bowls of it through a pipe .. it has some ghosting possibilities . I love this blend so much that it doent bother me but it wold be a good blend to at some point dedicate a pipe to

Similar Blends: Though a way different flavor , it's similar to Holiday Spirit in terms of mouth feel , which McClelland's has mastered.

The unsweetened black cavendish is the tobacco, and you get a little brown sugar from it; no vanilla. The English Walnut topping is exceptionally mild and sweet, but I don’t get that much of a nut taste from it. Very one dimensional in every way. Burns a little slow, cool, clean and velvety soft and smooth with a light creaminess. No nicotine. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, but no goop or dottle. An all day smoke that you’d hardly notice puffing. Normally, I reserve one star ratings for blends with a bad, or little, or no flavor that goop and bite. This doesn’t do the two latter observations, and the taste isn’t bad, but it’s boring and weak, so I can’t recommend it.

Since I'm not sure I've ever eaten English walnuts I can't say whether this tobacco tasted like them. It was sweet, but not really in any kind of nutty way. We recently had an "Aromatic" night at our local pipe club and this one garnered "Best in Show." So, I reckon it is a crowd pleasure. I thought it was okay, but I am biased as I liked to be slapped around a little by some strength when I smoke a bowl of pipe tobacco.

Here we have a high quality black cavendish. And by "black" I mean jet black, the most profound type of dark tobacco. And by "cavedish" it is meant a tobacco infused with some sweet agent, caked and fermented to bring out the natural sweetness. So really, no surprises here: we know McClelland is a top blender. So if you want to try a very sweet pipe tobacco of very god quality, this is a good palce to come. Of course, the aroma of this smoke is superb.

Easy Street, as has been mentioned, is not exactly a blend, rather a simple recipe. It gives a constant smoke, with no noticable evolution while its smoked. As all sweet blends it tends to smoke hotter and somehow wet, but a proper pipe can help with this. Eventhough I found my tin more moist than I usually smoke, the tobacco kept lit with no problem. I also found on this tobacco a note similar to C&D Crosseyed Criket. It is a slightly tangy flavor, but on these tobacco it lands way better.

I am amazed by the low rating on this particular blend. It looks like people were looking for something completely different. What we have here is a really good sweet tobacco. That walnut note is present, but I don´t think is an artificial flavor; instead, it is the natural expression of the tobacco sweetness.

This is a very finely crafted aromatic. Sweet but not too gooey, crowd pleasing but not overpowering. It's a fairly typical black cavendish but one that is not as moist as most of them. And the english walnut topping is masterfully done and somewhat sparingly added so as not to overflavor the whole concoction.

Easy Street is my 3rd foray into McClellands aromatics, the other two being Tastemaster and Best of Show. I find ES to be superior to Best of Show and every bit as well done as T. I think the aroma in BOS is a little overdone. Again, I think McClellands puts their best foot forward in tinned versions of their tobaccos - and most certainly their aromatics.

If you enjoy aromatics, this is one that you should try. If you particularly enjoy black cavendish, Easy Street should be on your short list.

Bit surprised at the negative reviews of this blend. When I first tried it last year, I thought it was boring and somewhat "plastic-ey." After I smoked 2 or 3 bowls of it, I was completely surprised and found it to be my favorite blend, which is weird because I normally smoke English and not many Aromatics. It definitely has a velvety mouth feel. It burns cool in a pipe. In fact, I like to burn it cool so that I can coax out the nuanced flavors from the tobacco and infusions, so I tend to relight often. It's great if you want to burn it hot, believe me- the flavors come to life even then, but if you don't mind paying close attention to it and burning it a bit on the cool side, you will find complexities that are appreciable to pretty much everyone. My wife says the room note is somewhat sweet, soft and "unoffensive." (She seldom lets me smoke indoors, that should tell you everything). I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a mild Aromatic that has some sweet, but not perfume-ey fragrances and tastes.

I am a little confused over some of the not recommended reviews I have read on this blend. They seem to be all over the map. Too much flavor not enough flavor. I found this to be pretty darn tasty. Yes I get a bit of walnut and molasses throughout the smoke. Will it knock you over.....well no but you get this taste throughout the smoke. Opening note is pretty mild without a lot of aroma. Lights fine and taste starts right away but not overwhelming. You have of course to smoke this slow like all aromatics. If you feel you bowl getting warm.....slow down so you don't burn off all your flavor. Room note is mild but pleasant. All in all this is a most pleasing aromatic that you could smoke all day long. I give it 3 1/2 stars.

Pure Black Cavendish, so all you really get is the casing/topping. I've generally rather disliked to really disliked this type of tobacco, but while it was a bit too sweet for my taste in general, I was surprised I didn't dislike this. Unlike most Cavendish blends, I got no burn nor bite; it smoked at a slightly faster rate than I'd like, but not as fast as I feared. Maybe I'm suggestable, but I got and rather liked the walnut flavoring more than many reviewers seemed to. Maybe I just like walnuts!

Looking for a strong tobacco? a natural tobacco? Nope, not this. Looking for a slightly different dark Cavendish? Then maybe yes.

It is interesting to smoke an unsweetened black cavendish. It usually tastes a little musty and thin to me. There must be some quality in the sweetener that gives me the musty. This was thin on taste but the overall smoking experience was pleasant enough.

Mine was a sample from a friend, and it was at a good level of hydration - maybe slightly on the dry side. I have been smoking it this way. I can't really comment on the tobacco flavor because the mild topping masks it.

The topping is supposed to be walnut, and maybe this is the flavor of walnuts. It tasted more like weak coffee with cream and sugar to me.

It smoked easily, but the flavor ran out of steam in the last third of the bowl. It was almost like smoking hot air at this point. I did not experience goop/dottle.

It is hard to recommend this in general, but it could easily be exactly what someone is looking for.

After having Best of Show and Town Topic I decided to venture further into this line and pick up a tin of Easy Street. It's a nice very dark Black Cavendish with a wonderful topping of English walnut flavoring. In the tin I did note the dreaded vinegar scent McClelland is known for, but that didn't carry into the smoke thankfully. As most McClelland blends, it came a bit moist, but after a bit of drying time it packed very well and took a char light and real light wonderfully. It burned nice and evenly into a fine white ash. The blend didn't burn too hot and the flavor transfer was quite nice. It got two thumbs of from the War Council. If you're looking for a good once in a while aromatic, pick a tin of this blend up.

I picked this up as a sample at my local tobacco shop and liked it enough to buy a tin. As my fellow reviewer noted, it's fairly one dimensional and steady throughout (no 1st, 2nd, 3rd bowl) as most aromatics / cavendish are. It burns dry and cool, has good room note. Actually, what struck me was that it fit the description on the can, i.e., velvety and creamy. I've tried the other Premium Aromatics (Pal O Min, best in show) and like this the best of the bunch. As a usual VA smoker, this is a nice change a pace and crowd pleaser without being goopy or overly sweet.

McClelland -Easy Street (Premium Aromatics).

After my 'English Day' yesterday, a few more bowls of McC' Old Dog this morning, raising its rating to four stars, I decided to move to an aromatic; it is, after all, Sunday, my aromatic day! So I popped open a tin of Easy Street.

It says in the description it's a coarse cut black Cavendish and, indeed, the blend's jet black and pretty coarse! My moisture's exactly as I want it to be: smokeable right away.

To be honest, I feel disappointed. On the plus side of things it burns well, doesn't bite and makes big clouds of smoke. But on the negative side the flavour isn't exactly 'striking'. Rather than, as I expected from the appearance, heavy vanilla black Cav' with a touch of nuts, I get something reminiscent to cardboard flavoured with wood! Jokes aside, the black Cavendish tastes light and empty, and the walnuts have more of a very strong woodiness rather than a characteristic walnut flavour. I find the smoke very 'dry', too, it makes my mouth feel strange.

Nicotine: mild. Room-note: pleasant.

Easy Street? Very disappointing. Not recommended:

One star.

One of my favorite aromatics! Too bad you cannot find it here in Europe and I must smuggle it in via my mothers care packages. A delightful smoke all by itself, cool with no bite and a pleasant room note. No English walnut taste here but full of BLACK walnut taste, which I prefer anyways

To make it last, I extend it with one part ES with 3 parts Smokers Pride Black Cavendish. The SPBC soaks up the walnut taste real well and the smoke stays cool with the same pleasant room note.

Easy Street is a straight black Cavendish blend with a sweet & sour, musty/molded fruit tin note. The flavoring is supposed to be English Walnut. However, I wouldn't exactly liken it to the black walnut extract that's used in ice cream and baked goods.

There isn’t much to this blend, and I disagree with the tin description which promises a rich and creamy smoke. I do enjoy the flavor of the unique topping, but unfortunately it's all I can taste.

By itself, Easy Street burns well, provides a fairly dry smoke and a nice room note. I found the flavor to be reminiscent of Wilke’s Bleeker Street. I also found this to be an interesting Cavendish for blending. Try mixing a dash of it with a base of Red Cake 5100.

I was not impressed with Easy Street as the Walnut topping was not sweet enough for me. Great quality Black Cavendish (as always with Mc) that had not bite (or Nicotine) and smoked somewhat cool. I can see where they were going with this aromatic and someone who enjoys Walnuts on a Sundae or toasted in their shells and eaten by themselves would surely be impressed with the natural tasting topping but for me I evidently prefer Vanilla or Chocolate Etc. toppings.

For a seasoned pipester, this stuff leaves alot to be desired. It s too sweet for my taste and gives you very little vitamin N. That being said, for the occasional pipe smoker who isn't accustomed to alot of nicotine, and wants to smoke something that smells good, and wont get them kicked our of the house, then you could do alot worse. Once lit, it stays lit pretty well. Mine has been sitting in an unsealed tin for over a year. Still a bit moister than I like. After abour mid bowl, the "walnut ice cream" flavor sneakes in and out. The smoke is as smooth as silk, so it shouldnt "choke" the occasional pipester. I wouldnt buy again, but if you like black's worth a try.

I try to keep an open mind when it comes to aromatics, in fact I like several aromatics but I am primarily a Balkan smoker. I love McClelland's English and Virginia blends so I thought I would give their aro's a try. In short, this tastes like what I would imagine the mens urinal fresheners taste like. If you're into that thing, by all means get this blend, otherwise stay clear!!!! For me this blend is a candy coated piece of poop. There are much better aromatics out there, try Blue Note.
