The Virginia offers grass and citrus, while the black cavendish provides a little brown sugar. The black cherry topping is not strong, though it tones down the tobaccos to a moderate extent. The strength and taste levels are just shy of the mild to medium threshold. Hardly has any nicotine. Won’t bite or get harsh. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace with a mostly consistent flavor. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a pleasant after taste and is an all day smoke.

This is another blend that I tried with the sampler that I purchased. This was not a bad blend. The flavor was there and it had nice taste to it. The roomnote was very pleasant as well. The flavor of cherry was there, not to strong, but just enough to give it a kick. Not a bad smoke all in all, but there are some better Cherry blends on the market...MozzMann

I have never had a good experience with cherry flavored pipe tobacco in the past and had vowed never to try it again. However, I received a 2-ounce pouch of Black Cherry in a sampler from With Pipe and Book. After having it on hand in a glass wire bail canning jar for five months, I decided to give it a go. Wow! The burst of flavor is there from the very first puff and stays strong throughout the smoke. In addition to the cherry taste, there is also a good backdrop of Virginia tobacco. Unlike so many other cherry blends, this is tobacco with cherry flavoring, not the other way around. And to me, this doesn't offer the sickly sweet cherry taste, but it is more tart like a fine wine. And I'm told the room note is exceptional as well. I suggest you try this in a large-bowl pipe for ease in keeping it lit plus for a cooler, dryer smoke; and a pipe that is dedicated to aromatics. You might even want to dedicate a pipe or two exclusively for this blend. In my permantent rotation of 12 tobaccos, this has become one of the four aromatics.
