This is a pleasant and thoroughly undistinguished mild English. It's subtle, with a mildly grassy quality from the Orientals, some sweetness from the Virginias and a little campfire quality from the Latakia. My pouch is a few years old and I have no idea if what's currently available from IRC is better or worse than what I'm smoking now. Then again, I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to find out.

This blend, one of Iwan Ries' "British Blends" series, is remarkable for its balance. There is, in fact, a goodly amount of Latakia that is balanced nicely by the Orientals in British Rich. yielding a very satisfying smoking experience. Very good moisture content, lights readily, smokes cool, nice and tasty, etc. Well worth trying.
In fact, all of Ries' British Blends are worth your attention. They have made an effort to present several variations on the British blend theme and, for the most part, have succeeded very nicely. Kudos for a lot of thought and good work.

Excellent tobacco but a little bit too "thin". Add a heavier body an it will rise a lot in my opinion.

This is probably Iwan Ries' best English House blend. Unfotunately, their English house blends are not very good.A step above Balkan Sasieni for not searing the tongue, but that's about it. Try Pipes and Cigars English blends and Wilke Aromatics. Iwan Ries is still the best pipe shop on earth. I am just starting not to care for their bulk tobaccos. Kings Oriental though, will always reign supreme!
