I cannot really call this an English when it's swimming in sweet humectants and preservatives.
Does not light very well and the taste is not very good. Also, bites like a horsefly if you're not careful.
If this is "modern" you can forget it. Not for me.

This tobacco must be made by Altadis. The pouch comes as being unsealed and not even wrapped, which says a lot about the preservatives that must be present in that tobacco.
If this is the new standard for a modern Engllish, then I will stay away from it.

The smell from the pouch is good lots of "tobaccoey" goodness. It smells like a humidor. The smoke is pleasant, still on the sweeter side of an english mix. It has a peppery smokey flavour. It it bites hard if you aren't careful.

A blend wherein a sickly-sweet casing clashes horribly with a substantial latakian presence. I like latakia once in a while, and I like the occasional aromatic as well, but this stuff is just nasty. It tastes like a burning pop-tart factory. Strangely, the room note is fabulous, delivering "dark chocolate and malt vanilla notes" just as promised on the pouch. Oh well.

Oh boy! I tried this one really out of curiosity, it came in a non -sealed pouch of 40gr.
A dark, with shades of brown and light brown, leaves. Strong aromatic smell, on the edge of yea, chocolate or cacao.
Didn't behave well in the few pipes I've tried...and the pouch was not appealing at all.
Modern English? Alfred Dunhill would roll over in his grave...
