This is an English/aromatic blend that appears to contain lots of Virginias and black cavandish and provides a significant amount of tongue bite. If you want an English crossover stick with McClelland?s Frog Morton or its bulk equivalent, 5110, both of which are much smother and free of the bite of Sir Winston.

My pouch of Sir Winston has a nice smoky aroma. The tobacco was a little moist so I left the pouch open till it was to my liking. Firing it up, the Latakia is definately there but not overwhelming. The "campfire" is there and compliments the rest of the blend. It has no or very little sweetness and a wonderful (to me) room aroma. It gets a tolerable rating just to be on the safe side. I did not have any problem with tongue bite...maybe since I dried it out a bit and smoke slowly. This is a very nice, medium-strength English blend.

As with the other reviewers, I am in total agreement. This was a very disappointing tobacco. Thankfully, I only ordered a sample from Finck's, so I only wasted a few dollars. If you're looking for an English blend, look elsewhere.

I've tried the Finck "English" offerings from time to time over the years and found them to be unrewarding. The mixtures are variable, probably depending on the supplier. They are often too wet (literally!) and some have had a mildew-like odor behind either minimal Latakia or Virgina/Burley characteristics. All versions bite. Additionally, the prices aren't particularly competitive.

I must agree with Thatcher on this one. In addition let me say that there is also some Burley in the mix and very little Oriental. There is some Latakia; but not enough to call it a traditioal English.

If you want to try this buy the 1 1/2 ounce sample and try adding a little Oriental and Latakia
