Paul Olsen Garrick
(3.22)
Paul Olsen's version of the long wanted "The Garrick". A nice, mild Latakia mixture, the mildest of the triad "Garrick" - "800 Ø" - "Blue Queen".

As of the date of this review Garrick is still very much available, albeit, I only know it to be available from Denmark.
I have found that all the MOB English blends sampled thus far have proved to be solid performers. Garrick is on the lighter end of the spectrum, i.e., it's not a "lat-bomb", but with the interesting addition of perique.
Worth a try if it's not overly inconvenient to source.

Olsen's Garrick is no longer produced. It came in an unusual tin that was triangular in shape. I really liked the flavor overall, but it was hard to smoke a lot of in a short time because the Perique in the blend was a little on the overwhelming side for me. But, the other listed components were of good quality and the smoke was satisfying, but according to my notes, just too light overall to satisfy, particularly with such Perique dominance.

Paul Olsen - Garrick.
This is a blend that I enjoy a great deal.
The Latakia and Perique are equally as strong. I get a smoky, woodiness, from the Latakia with a blast of spice from the Perique. It's not what you'd call a Lightweight smoke!
That's the tastes I get more of, now the taste I get only a little of: I'm betting it's down to the indomitable nature of the other two tobaccos, but I only get a tiny amount of grass/hay coming through from the Virginia. It's a lot further down the flavour scale.
Nicotine? I'd put this down as about medium, maybe a tad higher if inhaled, but other than that I'd say it's medium.
I don't get any extra flavours; it's quite a basic smoke, but what I do get is tongue bite. To come to the fore, the pipe must be puffed very hard, and to be fair, when it does occur, it's not that bad.
Highly recommended.

Well, I prefer King George to this tobacco, though they are very similar. In Garrick I miss the Orientals. No bad tobacco, but a bit "flat". BigBadWolf.

Another great creation by Paul Olsen in the "My Own Blend" series! It has been among my regular blends of choice for quite some time now! Having learnt from other people's reviews about so many good mixtures I felt it was high time I shared "Garrick" with others like me, who are constantly in pursuit of a great smoking experience.
What you get in "Garrick" is a steady, beautifully balanced, and unfailingly present rich treat to both flavour and taste! It burns easy and nice, quickly develops into a full bodied yet delicate presence for both you and those around you. You may be sure it will remain with you as a good companion to conversation or a moment of quiet and peace.
I prefer it in a mid-sized Savinelli "Champagne" and always keep a tin within reach. Try it. You will not regret it! Enjoy.

Mild and sweet English type blend. Very easy to pack and light. Keeps lit without effort. Smokes cooly all the way to the bottom of the pipe. No bite whatsoever. A good blend for those wanting to try a Latakia blend but reluctant of their usual punch.

A good starting point to the english blends, though not a real classic english. It's very easy to pack and light, and the smoke proceeds evenly. The cavendish gives a sweet tone, no bite at all, and the nicotine punch is really low. A good one, though not fantastic.

A nice, mild tobacco made by Paul Olsen's eminent tobacco specialist Michael Mortensen. made after an English reciept, this tobacco contains Latakia, Perique, Cavendish, Kentucky, and Virginia. A nice, mild tobacco for the smoker, who wants to start smokin the "traditional" English mixtures.

Great blend. Friendly. After lighting it up the taste is round mellow and creamy. Like Germains King Charles. After 3 relights it's harsh, bitter and hard work to finish. Not very enjoyable. But untill then it's a joy.
