Im not the big latakia smoker, but this was really nice. The latakia is on the backseat on this smoke.
For new smokers this would be a good place to start, if you dont want something heavy with latakia.

Orlik - Wattson's Special Mixture.
This is very tightly packed into the tin, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if the tin contains a bit more than the 50 grams that it says! Looking at the mix I can see that the Latakia has been included in quite a sparing fashion, there are only a few jet black specks, the mix is prominently a light brown. It gives off a very rich and full aroma that almost implores me to fill up and light. To be negative it's a little moist, a short air is required.
It lights with relative ease and straight away I notice there is only a minor smoky hint from the Lat'. The majority of the taste is a salty/sour one with a moderate hint of a Lemon type quality. Sadly this burns too warm, the smoke begins to take its toll on my tongue after about ten minutes. Another problem with the burn is the speed, it's over in a flash. The nicotine is about medium, not too strong yet not too weak. I find the room note pleasing, it's just the right amount to give a good feeling without being too full in either scent or smoke quantity.
This is an 'O.K' smoke but it lacks a few decent qualities and harbours a couple of bad ones! Two stars.

Good latakia tobacco. Not so "dusty" as latakia can be.

This one is a nice way to aquaint yourself with Latakia blends....on the basis of having tried three others, namely Kong Frederik Full / - Medium, and W.O. Larsen No. 28.
To me Latakia blends are nice now and then, but I find the characteristic taste easily overpowers the other tobaccos in the blend- leaving a slightly one-dimensional taste experience. Not so with this one ( or the W.O. Larsen by the way ), this is merely seasoned with Latakia, leaving room for especially the Oriental flavour to blend in, a smoky/salty/spicy sort of taste, but not overly aggresive.
Also this is a very easy tobacco to pack and smoke; sensible humidity out of the tin, nice managable cut making it easy to pack, and smokes dry and without much tongue bite or bitterness towards the bottom of the bowl.
If you are into the uncased tobacco variety, give this a try.
