Love this tobacco! Bought it on a whim when ordering their sleepy hollow seasonal blend. It's a lighter all day smoke blend - sweet, nutty, salty Latakia. It initial light and first part of the bowl is really light and sweet. Almost caramel-like. Big creamy puffs of smoke. Mid bowl the Latakia comes in a wee bit more but stays in the background. Cool smoke for me - stays lit. Been really enjoying the Straus Blends!!! Worth the phone call!

Sampled a few jars, this one smelled the best, bought an ounce and took it home. I had smoked this before and decided at the time that I enjoyed 412. Carefully broke up 88 and loaded it into a bent thick walled tomato that carries the name Straus Italia. Was impressed more than in the past with this blend. Smoked smooth, even, and with no bite. The blends combined together well with no single tobacco standing out. Left a warm, plesant, basement note. Look forward to seeing how this bulk compares to some tobacco in the glorified tins.

This is another favorite blend of mine. Upon 1st light one detects the Latakia, but it is not strong. It's suttle and smooth. At a 1/3rd bowl and past, the cavendish becomes dominate with the latakia in the near background. One catches a very slight hint of chocolate from time to time. This seems to be from the burley, not a casing.

The Latakia, Burley and Cavendish really join one another to produce a very nice smooth smoke with the Virginia giving it's touch of sweetness. It does not smoke wet and there is no gurgle.

This is another blend inwhich my wife likes the aroma of. Pure and clean.

Another finely tuned and balanced blend. I smoke several ounces of this a year. If it were not for my love of Virginias, this blend would be a regular.
