Not much in the strength department and a lot of natural flavor along with the added casing. Will burn cool and quite dry considering it is a loaded aromatic. My couple of bowls were from a sample sent by a friend and the contents were a wee bit on the moist side when I smoked it. The Burley really comes through the most and one can get a wisp of the orientals on rare occasions.

bought this blend in a 2lb factory bag knowing that you cant go wrong with peter stockeby blends. i wasnt disappointed, the blend has a fruity tart and roosey notes to it with a coffe/truffle hints in the back ground yet the tobacco flavors are present through out the smoke. take the fire pretty well and burn to fine ash with few dry dottles. the tobacco is mild in taste with a danish type of sweetness to it articulated with viginia and cavendish. the room note is acceptable by many and the price is about right if purchased in bulk. nothing to complain about and it is recommended to lovers of danish tobacco lovers.

This is a nice smoke if you like aromatics. Definitely some vanilla in there, can not quite get the other flavors but it does work well. A touch on the dry side for me but it does light and stay lit all the way to the bottom of the bowl. There is something in the background that causes me to cough just a bit, reminds me of the harsher Danish tobaccos. Overall a nice smoke, good beginner blend for sure.

Well, just to be on the safe side, firstly let me admit that I'm a happy guiltless aromatic smoker (eventually I do try english and latakia mixes too). I say this, because I guess that ppl more into tobaccoish tastes will probably hate this mix. It's extremely mild and sweet and is a bit flat to be honest, then again it's delicious! in its own underwhelming kind of way... If your'e an aromatic fan that is! I do get the the truffle taste and some mocca or vanillaish kind of flavour, which is sweet and mild, a dessert tobacco. I don't think this is impressive stuff, it's great to try specially if you're just beginning, more seasoned smokers may not be that thrilled, but is a solid quality tobacco that deserves a better rating, in the realm of sweet mild aromatic tobaccos is a safe choice. I'm happy to smoke it but obviously you want more complex stuff every now and then, in between, I do recommend this danish delicacy

A good change-of-pace smoke. A bit one-note for more frequent use. I did not really find the vanilla in this. A deep note of chocolate or mocha seemed to predominate. This blend was somewhat finely chopped and may have been one I subjected to the blender. This has been sitting for 6 months or so, and is actually a good one when tired of the same old stuff. I think this one smells a bit strong. If you like the aroma so much the better, but probably warrants a test smoke around the S.O.

This is what I would call a "candy" tobacco in that it is either cased or topped so heavily that it tastes like a confectionary tobacco.

I bit difficult to get lit at first, even when dry. Provides a cool, creamy smoke with a thick sweet taste from the Mexican vanilla.

Burns clean leaving little goop in the pipe.

A good smoke for beginners or aromatic lovers. Those more seasoned smokers may not care for it other than for a "now and then" smoke.

Black Truffle was my first foray into aromatics and, to be honest, my first foray into pipe tobacco. So, as is to be expected, there are some sentimental feelings while writing this review.

The pouch aroma explodes with a thick aroma of vanilla and an idea that there is some type of fruit lurking beneath, perhaps cherry. At first the aroma is really nice and pleasant...but after awhile becomes too strong. The taste upon first light is definitely vanilla with the cavendish and burley making themselves known. The burley, in this case, is pleasant and never overwhelms. On several bowls of this blend I noticed a thin metallic taste in the first half of the bowl. I have no idea what to contribute this to. As it burns down this extremely thin tasting blend becomes thicker and richer. By the 2nd half it has gained some sizeable body with the virginias an orientals dominating. Unlike most aromatics I have found, the casing does not burn off quickly. It remains until the last 1/10th of the bowl and stays pleasant without ever becoming goopy or dominating the blend. The finish is uninspiring. While it becomes better as the bowl burns down, the last 1/8th holds no real changes, surprises, or excitement. Overall this is a good aromatic blend that starts off (relatively) promising and never (truly) develops into something great. I'd smoke it if given a bowl but probably won't buy any more.

I picked up a pouch of this with my last etailer order, based on nothing more than a pick at random (I enjoy pretty much everything, from lat. bombs to goopy aro's). When the pouch arrived, it was very moist, and required 8 hours drying time before reaching a smokable humidity.

Pouch note is fruity (namely cherry), with hints of vanilla. Slightly overwhelming topping if you ask me, but as with most toppings, it gets milder with age. Cut is on the extreme side of course, and can make for loading issues if your in a hurry. I have found better luck with the Frank method, as opposed to the three-stage method with this weed. The top half of the bowl brings a strong cherry flavour to the game, with just a hint of vanilla sweetness. The casing, while strong, is not overly sweet (infact, it verges on the sour side), and remains prevalent thoughout the bowl (albeit with diminishing returns). As the bowl passes the half-way point, the flavours of the virginia's and the orientals start to make themselves known, although the casing still remains in the forefront. Sadly, they never do cut through the fruity flavour completely, leaving me somewhat uninspired by the flavour profile at the bottom of the bowl. Grey ash, mixed with some dry dottle, but nothing out of the ordinary. Wife enjoyed the room-note, although she did mention that it isn't something she would want to smell all day.

Overall, I would give this 2.5 stars, not the best aro. on the market, but certainly not the worst. I am going to cellar the rest of this pouch, see if it gets better six months from now.

Aromatics are my "change of pace" when I want to move away from the Latakia I prefer. My wife loves my pipe and likes to shop with me, but rarely pushes anything on me (I always mention that she enjoys the smell of Latakia!), but she smelled this being smoked in a tobacco shop and asked me to get some.

I purchased this in a 2 oz. bag (It is available in large bags so, unless your local tobacconist has this for sale to weigh out you would have to buy a lot) and tried it in a Cob (Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman). The smell in the bag is the same smell in the room; vanilla. The more I smell this the more it makes me think of cake baking in the oven.

The taste is mild, in fact, it is almost too mild. There are many aromatics I enjoy, and I think this would be a excellent FIRST tobacco for someone or perhaps a first foray into aromatics. Because of my penchant for Latakia or Burley blends, this is just too mild for me.

But, if you are looking for a light, cool smoke that is easy on you and the people around you; give this a few bowls worth.
