Peter Heinrichs Club Tabak Gelb

(3.00)
A balanced mixture of sweet Virginias, ranging from golden-yellow to reddish-brown, form a lively contrast for the pitch black black cavendish. A chocolaty burley rounds off the full bodied taste. The mellow notes, skillfully rounded off with a shot of Irish whisky, forms a perfect harmony with the unobtrusive spice of aromatic coffee.
Notes: This is one of three Club Blends Peter Heinrichs offers for the 1st Pipe Club of Cologne (Germany). "Gelb" means "Yellow".

Not too shabby - for an aromatic (oh dear, I hear the Aromatic-Fans howlin and growlin, wanting to eat me alive :-D) I'm not the biggest lover of aromatic pipe tobaccos, especially when it comes in the 'standard Va/B.Cav./Burley' mixture... but this blend's got charme! The tin note reminds quite a bit of Caledonian Highland Cream. Slightly sour, with a nice whiskey undertone and not too much sweetness.

This is based on 2 bowls-worth of a sample, so take it for what it is!

Easy to pack, easy to light, easy to maintain - beginner friendly indeed! In the pipe this is a blend that's offering both spice and aromatic sweetness. The Whisky is everpresent, yet very mild, rounding off the spiciness of the tobaccos. A hint of coffee can be noticed when you know its in there, otherwise it's really unobtrusive and mild. Surprisingly much spiciness in here! Rounded off with a creamy, by times buttery sweetness you have a solid as rock smoke, that's quite tasty and not only is a good tip for beginners, but also for aromatic fans and smokers who like some booze (rum, whiskey, bourbon....) in their pipe tobacco.

I'll buy a tin of this by times, not too bad, really! I could see this being a great morning smoke or an alternative for when you have to mind the room-note, as it's really pleasant!
