D & R Tobacco Blenders Bench: Belmont Perique
(4.00)
D&R is a relatively new entry into the premium pipe tobacco market but they have burst onto the scene due to the quality of the leaf they use and the care in which they assemble these fine blends. Ranging from very mild to a nice strong flavor profile these blends have been well received by the pipe smoking community.

The Belmont perique is spicy, a little buttery, very earthy, and woody with mildly stewed, fermented, malty, tangy fruitiness that include figs, raisins, and plums. The strength and taste levels are strong and full respectively. The nic-hit is a little past medium. Won’t bite or get harsh, but has the roughness that one would expect from smoking straight perique; a roughness less obvious when used as the mixer it is intended to be. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace as it easily burns to ash with few relights. Has a lingering after taste that’s very filling. Not an all day smoke, and I recommend a small bowl for this one if you decide to smoke it straight. A potent mixer by design.
