A latakia blend with a twist: the Turkish Orientals were gently toasted to change the flavor profile.
Notes: From Pipes&Cigars website, written by Russ Ouellette: About five or six years ago, I was asked to create a limited run blend for some friends. I wanted it to be something special, so I made a Latakia blend with a twist: the Turkish Orientals were gently toasted to change the flavor profile. We called it Fireworks, and people really enjoyed it, but we had to stop production because the toasting process took too much time. In honor of our nation's independence, we're re-releasing this hearty latakia blend, but as with the original, it will be available for a limited time, so if you enjoy it, you'd better stock up.

A unique oriental forward mixture, with some Latakia support. The Turkish Orientals are toasted to change the flavor profile. In the first half bowl, the toasted Turkish tastes really like toasted nutty burley; in the meanwhile the latakia shadows in the background. Second half latakia appeared very slowly and dominate.
Three and a half stars.

Pipesandcigars.com - Fireworks (Russ's Monthly Blend).
Indeed, this is an English with a 'twist'! Before I go into that, I'll get back to the start:
The ribbons are a fairly even split between different shades of brown with a couple of black flecks, include a few rather long ones, the hydration looked good, and although the aroma's clearly English it doesn't smell as 'toxic' as a lot of this genre!
Igniting is easy, just a quick touch of the flame gets it going! The twist? Although there's more than enough Latakia to go around, the toasted Orientals prevent too much provocation from the Lat'! They have an almost nutty flavour; rougher than usual. A negative, for me, is the speed of the burn. It's a touch quick; but, not 'fast'. I get no bite from it.
Nicotine: medium. Room-note: not nice.
Fireworks? Although a tad quick with the burn and has an unpleasant room-note it definitely deserves a recommendation:
Three stars.
