16/5 "the new one" is a tasty candidate for what's considered an "All-Day-Smoke"!
Appetizing Curlys made from Virginias and dark fired Virginias are accompanied by rich Burleys & a pinch of Perique. The apperance is tempting, with a high amount of Curlys along with ribbon-like Burleys and Virginias and a few broken flake pieces of Perique. The smell from the bag is slightly sweetish with a good amount of spice lurking. The underlying honey-ish sweetness gives it some "danish character", but not in a scented or overly sweet way.
Several methods of filling your pipes are available and allow you to experiment with it. I like to fill the bottom of the bowl with some loose tobacco, stack 1-2 with a big bowl 3 coins in the middle and top them with a bit of the loose tobacco.
Lighting the tobacco is a breeze and keeping it lit is just as easy. 16/5's taste is genius in a word. Versatile, creamy and rich! A slightly honey-ish, sweetish tone is always present in the back and is supplemented by a good punch of tobacco-y spice. Creamy, honey-ish notes, as well as earthy tones from the Virginias and dark fired Virginias. Along with a whiff of nutty, yet spicy Burleys. The Perique is more in the back and delivers a tad of pepper to tone up the spice and sour-ish fruit like tones.
Unique taste profile, with rich flavours and a creamy texture. A satisfying smoke that feel is very suitable for the first bowl of the day. Not too spicy, not too sweet. Just perfect balance and harmony of the ingridients. Benefits from a wide bowl, as it gives the tobaccos room to develop.
I don't have to think twice about this - 4/4 stars blend, for sure! Imho one of the, if not THE best tobacco manufacturer in Germany, if I'm allowed to point that out.
