Motzek Ralf's Burley Cup

(3.25)
Mellow-sweet nuttiness, dark chocolate and fine roasted aroma of finest coffee. With 65% burley and various Virginias this is a dark, yet velvety smooth experience for the burley lover. A tasty specialty that's unique through and through.
Notes: "Ralf" is Ralf Dings aka "Ralliegruftie" a member of the Germany pipe community and YouTuber. This blend was blended on him asking Tom Darasz for a beginner friendly, yet full-bodied burley mixture.

I don't have much to add to the previous reviews. I can't really taste the chocolate or the coffee, but I like this mixture very much. It's smooth, tasty, full-bodied but gentle, with a very natural taste of wood, leaf and dark bread. It reminds me of MB's Navy Flake, but more natural-tasting. One of the best burley-based mixtures I've tried so far. Bravo!

Please note: I don't really know about the room note, I smoke outside most of the time!

If it was possible to smoke bread the taste would be like Ralf's Burley Cup. That is exactly what comes to mind, a dark wholewheat rye bread.

The burley tastes mellow and nutty with a little caramelized cane sugar, there is just a hint of sweetness which probably comes from the virginias. This is an excellent mild yet naturally aromatic blend, it can be smoked all day and never bites. Burley lovers should give it a try. Well done TaK!

Ralf´s Burley Cup is ment to be a companion to a cup of coffee or chocolate-drink in the morning. "Ralf" is Ralf Dings or "Ralligrufti", a german piper, who makes a lot of pipe related YT-Videos. He asked Motzek, to create a beginner friendly, yet refined tobacco, that goes along well with the typical morning beverage. So far, so good!

65% Burley show it's presence in the smell from the bag: Deep chocolaty, with nuances of nuts, coffee and a toasted-aroma. I know for fact (Ralf´s said so), that this tobacco has been flavoured with chocolate- and roasted-coffe-aroma, yet the flavouring is very subtle and gently applied so it melts with the natural tobacco taste excellently.

The broken flake mixture is easy to handle in terms of packing and lighting. Comes in perfect smoking condition.

Burley Cup´s taste is superior and lives up to it's name. Deep, rich chocolaty burleys blasting with a tad of nuttiness. The pleasing taste is expanded by the flavouring, which brings notes of roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate and has a toasty nuance to it. The Virginia helps flattening the rich tastes of the Burleys by giving gentle sweetness and keeping the tobacco from being to bitter. Yet this isn't a sweet smoke at all! The taste is tart, roasty and toasty, with bursting chocolaty & nutty flavours that also tend to deliver some earthy tones!

Even me, who doesn't drink any coffee at all, because I'm sensitive to caffeine (a glass of cola makes me drown in cold sweat) loves this smoke and it's refined, robust, earthy taste. Has a feeling just like having a hot pot of coffee or a chocolate drink made from dark chocolate.

Perfect morning beverage along with a hot drink (roibos tee in my case) after breakfast! They really managed to make something special out of this composition. Ralf´s Burley Cup has rich taste, pleasing, diversified flavours and just seems like the perfect companion for a relaxed morning.

A must try for any Burley-lover and people who like chocolaty tobaccos. Worth trying for almost everyone imho.

Ralf is a legend over here who has deep down connections to all of the scenes manufacturers and this one is especially blended for him by the quite rightly hyped TAK blender Tom Darasz. I'm not a Burley lover at all but I had to try this after being vowed by many friends.

Look in pouch is nice and of dark brown color only. It's a broken flake rubbed out very loose and so it packs and takes flames well then burns slow and even until the end with no tongue bite but doesn't like to be smoked hot as the flavor gets lost then.

Tastes are sweet and very much of chocolate nuances building a warm, nutty body. The added aromas are well dosed (sadly I can't define coffee in there) and never overriding the true tobacco tastes, which get a bit stronger to the end adding character.

Medium to full bodied Burley-Based with just enough added flavors, that for sure will satisfy any Burley fan and where the hell is that condensate gone there's hardly any cleaning necessary. So why just 2/4 stars. That's just my personal rating as I don't enjoy too much Burley in a blend. Nevertheless, I'd recommend it.
