The smoky, woody, earthy, musty sweet Cyprian Latakia is a main player without being a dominating force. Able support comes from the grassy, light citrusy Virginia. The nutty, lightly earthy, woody burley also has a touch of molasses, plays backup, and is noticeable in most every puff. The spice, plum and raisins from the perique underscores the experience. The black cavendish offers some brown sugar sweetness. The maple and vanilla toppings have a little richness, and are mildly applied. The strength is near the center of mild to medium, while the taste is in that center. The nic-hit is a hair past the mild mark. It won’t bite, and has no dull or harsh spots. Burns at a moderate pace, cool and clean with a consistent, fairly smooth flavor from start to finish. Requires few relights, and leaves little moisture in the bowl. Has a smoky sweet after taste and room note. It has some similarities to the company’s Senior Chief, but with different proportions of tobaccos. An all day smoke with enough Latakia to perk up the proceedings without wearing out your tongue.
