Sweet Dublin - Irish Stout.

I've had this cellared for awhile, I'd just not gotten around to opening it and stumbled upon it this morning!

The first thing I'll point out is how this is unique in comparison to a lot of aromatic blends I've piped. Everything's a little different to most heavily flavoured blends. The blend isn't really dark, it's medium brown in colour. Neither is it soaked from the casing or any moisture that's accumulated in the pouch. And unlike a few, it lights easily and gives a stable burn. Now the most inimitable detail, the flavour:

This has quite clearly been embellished with alcohol, but it isn't as astringent as the usual whisky, brandy, or kirsch aromatics. The stout comes across well, but there's also a sugariness present, and maybe a molasses flavour. I'm guessing that there's also a dash of bourbon or whisky or something included, there's a slight piquancy in the background that implies some has been. The final thing that differs from most aromatics is the tongue bite: I get none.

This is a good blend but I can only give it three stars instead of four as although it's unique and well made, it isn't the sort of blend I'd smoke regularly: Recommended.

Three stars.
